It is a basic principle of data protection that the public should know or should be able to find out who is carrying out processing of personal data and other information about the processing, such as, for what purposes the processing is carried out.

The Data Protection Act 1998 places obligations on data controllers in order to satisfy this principle.

What sort of data is processed?

Tirax Employment Initiatives collects personal data for use within the recruitment process. This data consists of information supplied by either the jobseeker or recruiter. Typically the data will consist of your name, address, e-mail address, work and education history and your responses to and the results of questions initiated through the site.

How is this data safeguarded?

The security of the data is of paramount importance to Tirax Employment Initiatives. As such we take every precaution to ensure that sensitive data is only accessible by those parties intended to use this data for the purposes as stated within the recruitment process. Unauthorised access to either jobseeker or recruiter personal data is protected locally though the use of unique usernames and passwords and externally through the use of appropriate firewall and security technologies.

Glossary

Notification
The Data Protection Commissioner maintains a public register of data controllers. Notification is the process by which a data controller's details are added to the register.

Personal data
Personal data means data, which relate to living individuals who can be identified from that data.

Processing
Processing Obtaining, recording or holding the data or carrying out any operation or set of operations on the data.

Purposes
The purpose or purposes for which the data is being processed. In this case "recruitment"
