Duties includes:
To provide support in all areas of personal, domestic and social needs,
both in the home and in the community, in accordance with the agreed
plan.
To
work with people, their families, team members and other professionals,
to ensure that support is tailored to meet their individual needs and
wishes.
To
use a range of communication methods to assist people make informed
decision and choices about the issues affecting their lives.
To
preserve and respect the dignity and privacy of people and their
families.
To
contribute to the smooth running of the home through effective
communication with the people living there, the care team, family, and
other professionals.
Person Specification
includes;
Essential
A
willingness to support a wide range of people of different ages,
abilities and support needs.
An
ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with a
variety of people including people with learning disabilities, their
families, individuals, team members and other professionals.
Knowledge of the needs and rights of people with learning disability and
an understanding of the issues which people may face.
Awareness of and commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all.
Commitment to the health and safety of all.
Desirable
Relevant qualification, e.g. (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent)
Experience of working with people with physical disabilities
Six months experience of supporting people with learning disabilities
and/or the elderly.
